Latvian Sport Museum

[pic][spo.jpg]The Latvian Sport Museum is located in a 17th century building once used as a warehouse. Although officially opened in 1990, the origins of the museum are connected with the activities of V. Smidbergs (1893-1975), a collector and sports history enthusiast. His donation now forms the core of the museum's collection. The museum houses a rich collection of materials about Latvian sporting activities abroad as well as in Latvia. In January 2000 the museum began the implementation of the long-term project "The Hall of Honour". This currently displays an exhibition dedicated to Latvian Olympic champions.
