History Museum of Latvia


[pic][ves.jpg]Founded in 1869, the History Museum of Latvia displays the largest collection of memorabilia illustrating the development of Latvian culture. Located in the former residence of the Master of the Livonian Order, Riga Castle, the museum houses over 500 000 archaeological, ethnographic, numismatic and historical artefacts. The permanent exhibition illustrates the history of Latvia from ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibitions "Sacral Art" and "Museum Classroom" are on permanent display at the museum.
