Pauls Stradins Museum of the History of Medicine


[pic][str.jpg]The Pauls Stradins Museum of the History of Medicine illustrates world history of medicine and pharmacy from the ancient times to the present day. It is one of the largest museums of medicine in the world. Part of the permanent exhibition is dedicated to the history of medicine in Latvia. The core of the collection was accumulated by the surgeon and scientist Professor Pauls Stradins (1896-1958) in the late 1920s, and the museum was established in 1957 when Prof. Stradins donated his collection to the state. In 2000 the museum collection contained 190 119 items.
