| Park
Birini Castle stands in its beauty on a hilltop surrounded by a vast park filled with the spirit of old times, and two lakes connected by a floodgate. Priežkalna Park is its oldest part with its Mournful Alley and the family vault built in the hillside. A newer and considerably more spacious park is Mežaparks (Wood-park) or Emily Park – a present to Emily, the beloved wife of Von Pistolkors. The manor household buildings are also living witnesses of the past. The Gardener’s House accommodates the hotel, in one of the stables you will find horses – just like in old days – while the watermill house is cosily shared by an ethnic museum and a small tavern. The mood of Birini Castle park will give you inspiring feeling of comfort and desire to return there again and again.

History
Since 13th century, Kolcene was the official name of the place, but in 16th century the name of “Birini Manor” appears in the people’s speech in honour of the owner of the manor, Johann Biering, who gets famous by freeing Turaida, Cēsis and Valmiera from the troops of Russian tsar Ivan IV (the Terrible).
In 18th century, the Mengdens establish an extensive manor household and construct central buildings of the manor; count Mellin builds a sepulchre where peasants, thankful to their good master, put a monument.
In 19th century the Von Pistolkorses largely rebuild the manor and in 1860 they erect the new Castle building.
In 20th century, Kolcene is named Birini and the premises of the Castle get rearranged to serve as a sanatorium. After closing of the sanatorium, the Castle is renovated by Jānis Vimba who makes it a luxurious place for parties, receptions and recreation.

Castle Baths
Rest in the baths located in the vaulted cellars of the Palace will help you to leave everyday stress and worries behind. The cosy design of rooms, quiet music, bubbling of water in the pool, heated floor under your feet, fragrant vapour of the steam-bath, diving into a cold-water tub after a hot sauna, massage shower – all this will make you feel reborn!

Watermill Bath
After enjoying a traditional Latvian sauna, drinking a pot of herbal tea made on a wood-stove, having a swim in the watermill lake, and tasting snacks grilled on fire in the Lower Terrace, you will be invigorated for a new week of work.

Parties
Birini Castle is a prestigious place to organise banquets, anniversary and wedding celebrations as well as other kinds of receptions and parties.
The driveway leading over the floodgate, the big white gates on the top of the hill, the lap of honour in the courtyard, the vast entrance hall with carved wooden stairs and balconies on both sides, the luxurious halls, the doors to the historical terrace garden by the lake... they all create a romantic, inspiring mood.
When organising parties in the Castle halls, Castle baths, small vaulted hall at the hotel, as well as in the Watermill bath, you will be engulfed in the atmosphere of kindness and cosiness.

Seminars
The Green Hall of the Castle accommodates up to 150 seminar participants. Comfortable chairs, good lighting and up-to-date equipment will facilitate concentrating on work, while the lake-side balcony is a perfect place to have a rest and collect your thoughts.
It will make you forget the city noise and office feeling.
The vaulted hall of the Gardner’s House with a door to the terrace is well-suited for smaller seminars with up to 18 participants.

Hotel
Next to the Castle, in the Gardner’s House, there is a three-star hotel. Surrounded by historical parks and buildings, it invites to enjoy the calm and solemnity of the vicinity of the Castle. Rose Room on the first floor of the hotel is especially popular for the view from the bathroom window to the Castle tower with a stork’s nest.
For seminar and banquet guests we offer accommodation in the Castle building. Its mysterious corridors and stairs will lead you away from the party noises to cosy rooms with beautiful views to the lake and the park.

Finding the Way
You can take one of the two ways to Bīriņi from Riga:
at the 2nd km of the Vidzeme highway (A2) turn to the Tallinn highway (A1); then, having driven 29 km, in Saulkrasti, take the turning to Bīriņi; drive 17 km.
at the 37th km of the Vidzeme highway (A2) in Sēnīte turn to the Valmiera highway ( A3 ); then, having driven 8 km, in Ragana, take the turning to the Limbaži highway ( P9 ); drive 8 km to Bīriņi.
