Jurmala participates in the international travel fair „ITB BERLIN 2005”

On March 11 – 15 Baltic sea resort Jurmala will be presented on the international travel fair ITB BERLIN 2005. This year at the Latvia stand there will be 3 pepresentatives from Jurmala – Jurmala City Council, new resort hotels „Jurmala Spa” and „Baltic Beach Hotel”.

Germany is an important tourism market, as the Germans are very active travellers. German tourists make up to 5% of the total amount oftourists in Jurmala, however, it should be noted, that they spend most money along with tourists from Russia. Comparing to 2003, the number of guests from Germany in 2004 increased by 40%.. Mostly these are travellers over 50, who are looking forward resort treatment and relaxation in Jurmala, as here are perfect revitalizing conditions either for individual caravan travellers or groups. Jurmala City Council has issued special broshures in the German language about Jurmala resort.

Jurmala City Council has carried out several promotional activities on the German market. In December 2004 Jurmala has successfully participated in the exhibition „Spa&Wellness” in Cologne, which resulted in a large amount of German tourists in Jurmala’s spa-hotels.

ITB BERLIN is one of the largest tourism exhibitions in Europe, where on the floor of about 150 000 sq.m. it is possible to see more than 200 countries, offering tourism possibilities. Annualy this exhibition is attended by 100 000 visitors.
